stuck in a rut...

Well, as you can see from my previous post, its been quite sometime since I last made an update. I admit, I was stuck in a bit of rut- being bogged down with crazy hours of work, slacking on my workouts and chowing down on junk food more than I probably should. But, I needed to give myself a kick in the butt and get back into swing of things, and I thought why not start doing what I love- writing! I have a whole list of ideas for entries, so hopefully I can stick with it and be consistent!!!

It seems that right as the New Year approaches- everyone makes those resolutions of things they hope to achieve. Whether it may be getting that bikini body back, giving up fast food or trying to control your road rage while driving, how long do you actually stick to what you set out to achieve? Do you ever accomplish the things you set out to? Or does it last for a month or so, and then you back into your lazy rut. I, like many others I'm sure, say each year- this year I will stick to it- but then find myself saying- I don't feel like it, or I'll do it tomorrow, or I'll start that again on Monday. What helps get you back into sticking to your goals?

I know for myself- seasons have a big impact on my mood- and right about now, when the warm weather begins, its lighter out longer and the snow has melted away- I all of a sudden become a 'runner' and get this whole burst of motivation to start working out again. Motivation is huge key for me, but I am now noticing that attitude plays a big role as well. Keeping a positive attitude, motivating yourself, and heck saying ' I can do this' while flexing your guns in the mirror are the little ways they may help maintain that list of things to achieve.
It doesn't always to be New Years for you to set a goal for yourself, write down of list of things you want to do or trying something new. Try doing one thing a week and see how well you can stick to it! The longer you do it, and the more you do, the more better you will feel about yourself and you will not be anywhere near a RUT! Go get em! :)

Toodles!

trick or treat

Well i cant even remember the last post i published, but i do know it is has been long overdue! But the time has come for the seasons to change - which i tend to have a love hate relationship with! Living in Michigan, there is the advantage to have 4 seasons and i love the smells and the colors and the feeling you get as soon as a new season approaches. But, around this time of year, it can be quite depressing when you have to start putting the heat on, putting the fleece sheets on the bed and layering the coats, scarfs and mittens. However, I tend to get that giddy grin when you smell the crisp cool air and the amazing colors of the leaves as they start to change to the vibrant orange, magenta and deep red. The little kid in my comes out and i just want to go pick some leaves off the trees to keep! And an even better advantage to the season change is the coming of holidays!! and this month has one of my favorites...Halloween!!! i have always been a huge fan of this holiday, where creativity is at an extreme! but i also have an even higher appreciation for this holiday from my time spent in Australia where they don't celebrate and have no desire to...they are seriously missing out!!

This past weekend i took my man to the apple orchard, which i was quite surprised to find out he does not go once a year like most michiganders do. and when i talk bout smells of the season, nothing beats the smell of fresh apple cider and donuts and carmel apples.. hmmmmmm! We took a wagon ride, picked out the oh so perfect little pumpkin to carve and grabbed ourselves a a gallon on fresh apple cider! It was favorite trip of mine that we shared and i only wish my little pumpkin would last longer than a week.

But my all time favorite part of holidays, is the decorations! and i partially blame this on my mother since she is an interior decorator... i never had my wedding planned out since i was five like most girls, instead i know exactly how i want to decorate each room in my dream house! and when you get my momma, my sis and myself together, you better watch out cuz we get a little crazy and go decoration overload! ha From pumpkins, to 5 foot paper mashaed witches, cobweb covered bushes and skull lanters, everyone knows it is time for halloween!

But thats what sets off the little spark of warmth in my heart, its those moments and those traditions that get carried on each year that put that smile on my face that feeling of when i was young again and the only worry i had was how to have the coolest and craziest halloween costume of the year!

no matter how old you may be, or how far you may be from those that mean the most, carry on the traditions that put the warmth back into you home and heart because there is no age limit on holidays....and there is a reason for it!

Trick or treat, smell my feet
give me something good to eat!
happy halloween!

work it with a dash of FIERCE!

ok so I had to save my last post to pay tribute to my 3 favorites. A man whose name I knew since I was 5 years old, but is no where near an ugly puppet who lives in a trash can , Mr. Oscar De La Renta. I know I don't have too many pictures to show- my blog was acting up, but his accessories were to die for. I looooved his jeweled cuffs this year, and while it may be his fall collection, he added a punch of color right where it was needed.

Ok- Herve Leger must drink a lot of milk or something, because he knows how to do a woman's body good. His pieces just wrap all the right curves and the lines are phe-nom-inaaaal! His color palet and textiles this year were as always, just perfection and I know all the celebrities are gonna be coating themselves in butter to slide these masterpieces on for the red carpet.

Last but certainly not least, the most fiercest kid on the block- Christian Siriano. I only saw 'kid' because hes like 23 years old and his mind is seriously explosive of fiercness. His vibrant colors this year made you feel like you could just taste the fall leaves. Rich, vibrant and delicious. And his gowns, seriously- this boy mind blowing! I also found that he has a bridal collection- I think I may start saving now! ha shhh dont tell the bf!

Well fellow bloggers- I hope this little preview of fashion masterminds fall 09 collection was inspiring. Whether or not you can wear the big names on the bag of your neck, or like me try to mimic them at Target and TJ Maxx- all i gotta say is YOU BETTER WORK IT!

til next time- toodles!

work it, work it!

So it was one of my favorite weeks ever last week due to the fact that it was FASHION WEEK! Sadly, I don't get paid nearly enough to fly to NYC and attend the most amazing artistic spectacle of the year in Bryant Park- but I was able to droll over the truly mind blowing designs that pranced down the runway this year. From Dolce and Gabbana, to Herve Leger, Diane Von Furstenberg, and one of my favs, Christian Siriano. I just had to share with you a few pieces I absolutely love love!!

Above is the one of kind fashion mind master, Marc Jacob. I wonder what is in his wheaties every morning because this man is FAB-U-LOUS. He has this talent of mixing amazing colors, fabrics and avant garde visions to create masterpieces. This season was no exception, he had vibrant colors, amazing details of jewels, and his fabrics where oh so sweet to the touch. Oh how I love Marc.

But I cant forget about my ladies as well! Diane Von Furstenberg, Monique Lhuillier, and Jill Stuart was marvelous as well. Monique- that girl knows how to make a woman melt and want to find a man to marry- I didn't include her bridal collection, but as Rachel Zoe would say, I DIIIEEEE.

Of course when we're talking about fashion we cant forget the amazing duo- Dolce and Gabbana- their names are just so cool! ha And once again- they made my heart melt. This year they incorporated amazing dresses, a few below are my fav! Their simplicity, but that extra touch of pzzzzzazzz is just, remarkable. I loved details of the waist belt added to the 2 dressed below. And when it comes to wearing art around your arm- loove looove loooove their handbags. These of course will go on my wish list that one day, when I well established and living in a vibrant city, I will able to adorn and work these masterpieces like nooo other! work it work it!

good reads, healthy eats, treat yourself

Good afternoon fellow readers... it has been some time since my last post.. i apologize! but during my time away i enjoyed a relaxing weekend over Labor Day vacation..woot woot no work this past Monday! Also during my time , i researched some new features that i am very excited to share with you!!!  So todays feature is 'good reads, healthy eats, and tReAt yourself'.. its actually like 3 tools in one, but i liked how all the words kinda rhymed together. okie dokie- first one... good reads. this seems quite easy, but if you are like me, i am horrible at finishing a book! i always seem to start it, but can never finish it...its on my list of things to do.. finish a book! but one of my favorite places is book stores... from borders to barnes and nobel! I love the smell of them, and all the mass amounts of books from astrology, to love, to cool picture books and of course my absolute favorite- the HUGE magazine selection! so, after surfin' the web (ha i love this phrase b/c its what people first called it when the huge boom of the internet became popular, so its funny to me to still use it.. im a weird i know!) and found a few books that i think seem like a good read... i would love to give you some reviews, but i would not want to disappoint you since i probably would not finish them to give a review...but here are my recommendations!
1. Nina Garcia's "Style Strategy: A less is more approach to staying chic and shopping smart"
(i have to add that while the title is very catchy and appealing, the cover is quite weak. i am the type of person who usually chooses a book by the cool cover, yea which i know that is what most 8 year olds do, but Nina could have stepped it up a new notches, however she has a nice touch of pink font i must say)

2. "The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe"- i have been a huge fan of Marilyn for quite some time! i used to always do book reports on her during school and i just have this admiration and fascination with her- from her fame and fortune, to her many lovers, to her tragic end.. so this 'secret life' title is very tempting!

3. "blink-the power of thinking without thinking'- just the title alone is worth reading the back of the cover to see what it is really about! which of course i did, and seems that the book is about how we make choices that seem to made in an instant, in a blink of an eye and how some people follow their instincts and win, where others think and stumble into error... i'm thinking this sounds pretty interesting.....

one thing you should know about me is i love food. i am polish, which means since the day i was born i have had a love relationship with food...except for sourkraut, gross! i love all fast food joints-i refused to see the movie supersize me for the mere chance that i would not want mcdonalds after seeing it, and i just could not allow that! However, my tastebuds have matured through time and i now appreciate and love healthy foods- im sure my mom wishes that were true when i was younger when i would spend 2 hours at the dinner table refusing to eat peas. But as more research is being conducted on our health and the ticking clock of our life
expectancy seems to be getting shorter due to cell phone waves causing brain cancer and the
addiction to tanning beds creating a 70% chance of skin cancer in ones life, i think its
important to take small steps to adding a few more minutes to our lives. Here are a few small steps to HEALTHY EATS...

1. organic milk/Silk soy milk...even better.. make a Silk smoothie- just add ice, frozen strawberries and Silk soy milk.

2. SUSHI- don't be retarded and eat Sushi straight for 2 weeks like that Entourage actor did, because you could get mercury poisoning. And sadly, the deep friend tempura sushi that tastes soo amazing isn't as healthy as a California roll....and it has been shown that using chopsticks works the right side of your brain!

3. Kashi granola bars and cereal- this stuff is great and is packed of nutrition..they make eating healthy easy!

and after a long day of work, or when you kids happen to drive you crazy singing miley cyrus or just love seeing how many times they can say 'MOM' before you loose it, take some time to relieve the stress and TREAT YOURSELF.

While one of my favorite places in the world is the SPA, during these economic troubled times, my wallet hasn't stepped foot near a spa in who knows how long. But, with a few items you can make your own bathroom into a  DIY spa day.

1. bubbles/bath salts
2. loofa/body exfoliation scrubby thing
3. candles, candles, candles (make sure the shower curtain doesn't get too close...)
4. chill music- colbie caillat, matt wertz, and ye
s maybe even some Celine Dion
5. rubber duck- why not!

pour in the bath bubbles so that you can make a santa claus beard, do a little scrub to get rid of the dull skin, light some de-stressing candles, pop in the chill and relaxing music, and best part which you must do- turn off the lights.  the smell, the bubbles, music and candle light will create an instantly relaxing mood. and dont for get to stay in until your hands turn to prunes and get all wrinkly!

i hope you enjoy these few tools I have suggested in my blonde's guide to life. you only have one life to live, so make sure you enjoy it and dont let is slip away...treat yourself each day...even if it is a few pages in a new book, or soakin in the tub with a rubber ducky.

until next time...toodles!

LOLing...

Well I hope by now you have succeeding in LOLing today...but while I was stuck in my daily traffic on the way home from work, I thought I would share a few things that may create that all out LOL for you if you haven't yet experienced it today...

1. Napoleon Dynamite: My previous boss had the same appreciation as I did for this hilarious movie, and somehow had some sweet skills and would always send me a link or a quote on a day where everything was going wrong and a good Napoleon quote was just what I needed. So here are a few favorites of mine:
1. (Kip) " Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day"
2. (Napoleon) " shocks, pegs, luuuckkyyyy"
3. (Pedro) " I like your bangs"

2. Try perfecting the infamous Joey Tribiani famous quote.. 'How you dooin?'

3. Put on a classic Madonna's song, and yes, dance around to it.
*I was inspired by this one today on my way to work where I act like I'm 45 years old and listen to talk radio with hits from the 80s, 90s and today and 'Material Girl' came on and I soon found myself dancing in my car and singing- I must say it was a great way to start the day!

4. Try stuffing as many grapes, marshmellows, or whatever you can find that is easy to smoosh into your mouth and say 'chubby bunnies' five times fast. Please be careful while doing this and don't choke because I sure as hell don't make enough money to pay if you if you happen to sue me for this.... thanks :)

and I of course can't forget the word of day (hopefully I will remember to add this sweet feature each day) is......

TICKLISH! I thought it was a nice touch for today's LOL feature.. its kinda fun to say, again a weird word if you think about it, and being ticklish its kinda weird too. To be touched in a certain spot of your body where you all of sudden burst out with giggles which sometimes can lead to an uncontrolable laugh fest where your laughing so hard you can't breath and it almost becomes dangerous- they should have given a FDA warning to my big brother who would torment me and tickle me so bad I would get red in the face and couldn't breath....please don't try that at home kids.

Well, for the sake of the blog world, I hope my first 'rule' or 'tool' in a blonde's guide to life is 'LOL' was a success for at least one person out there!

Happy giggles

Until next time...toodles!

woot woot! 1st official feature...LOL

LOL: Thanks to the amazing invention of instant message and text messages, we have become even more lazy where we have to shorten words into cool combined letters. But it is quite neat to see how clever some people can get and how sometimes you have to read the conjumbled (is that a word) word 5 times to realize what the heck someone is saying.

However, its definition/meaning is great.. laugh out loud...which hopefully everyone does on a daily basis, and if you don't, you should start! My sister is probably going to kill me, but that is her above in the plaid dress...doing what she does best.. being the life of the party! This girl makes me laugh! Sometimes because, well, she is hilarious and other times I am pondering if she is really related to me. However, she has this way about her where she doesn't care whose around, whose watching or how many people may be staring at her, as long as she's having a good time, smiling and laughing, she will do whatever she wants- definitely something I admire bout her!

Too often do we get so wrapped up in our daily routine of life that we almost forget what it feels like to laugh. Have you ever had those moments where you are laughing so hard that it hurts and you say, Wow I haven't laughed this hard in a long time! Well stop saying that, and each day, do whatever you can to LOL. And how many times do you really put LOL when you don't actually LAUGH OUT LOUD???? I myself will admit am guilty to doing that bout 12 times to many on an average instant message conversation.

Bottom line - laugh out loud! Whether you need to go get some of the laughing cow cheese because you haven't laughed today, or aren't blessed with an amazingly hilarious sister who can do that for you a nightly basis when there is music involved, take time out each day to laugh. And I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that laughing burns calories so more reason to do it. And, did I mention its free!!! That is of course unless you buy tickets to a comedy club or go and order Dane Cook's DVD. But in our techno savy world, finding a laugh is at the tip of your fingers...and of course good internet speed to youtube.com

One last thought- on one of my amazing days in Australia where I lived by the motto- no worries, I stumbled upon an amazing gallery of a famous Australian photographer. (and of course I don't remember his name.. I'm so bad at that) In the store were these magnificent photographs of landscapes and just truly beautiful places in Australia- and below one photo was the quote..

"Don't life your live making a living, make a living, living your life"

I remember standing there for a minute and realizing how great of a quote it was.... and while that was very easy to do while in Australia-its still a struggle for me to do in the real world. And whether it is this new adventure in blogging that I am really starting to enjoy, or having a happy meal more often then I should, or trying my best to keep in touch with my friends from back home or college-I am determined to put effort in living my life with the things I enjoy and not let work overtake every element of it....

well fellow bloggers..hopefully I made some sense in my blonde's guide to life #1 and didn't ramble on too much. And I hope all of your good ol', deep down and obnoxious LOLing makes your day!

until next time... toodles! :)
